Smoking Laby

Victoria’s Kelburn campus had an exciting day on Thursday last week, with smoke seen pouring from the fourth floor plant room of the Laby building.

Emergency services were called and ambulances, fire engines and the police were on the scene for about 40 minutes, said a student.

He reported seeing “lots of fire appliances, including Hazmat and the extending ladder which they used to inspect the roof.”

Police set up a cordon to block off the area which a confused driver was seen attempting to drive through, to the amusement of onlooking students.
