Transformers

I loved Transformers when I was a kid. Thinking back, it amazes me how much emotion, pathos and agency were packed into those robots.

Inevitably with Michael Bay (maybe the wost director in Hollywood) at the helm of the new film it is lacking in all those departments and no amount of big guns and explosion could make up for it. Under all the special effects, emotive music, pretty girls and actions, the characters are so one-dimensional and plot so inane that this film is really fucking boring (I know people who fell asleep trying to watch it).

I really don’t want to come across as a condescending highbrow film reviewer because when I went to this film I was looking forwards to some kick-ass action scenes. However, I have to say, all the people who like this film and thought the battles were “cool”, I think have been tricked, because it is totally impossible to tell what is happening in them. Watching this film you know that you have just seen an astonishing, state of the art CGI, over the top fight, but thanks to Michael Bay’s ridiculous unnecessarily flashy editing, you have no idea what happened. So if you are into watching pretty colour flash on screen this is the film for you. Personally I would rather watch the original cartoon series.
