If you are familiar with the cut-throat world of inner city brunching, you are probably well familiar with this scenario. A packed restaurant, with maybe six at a table designed for four – followed by a long wait with snooty service and unsatisfacory portions. Well forget that, because Wellington has a jewel tucked deep in its crown – Breakers. In the heart of Seatoun, Breakers sits there like a sleeping giant handing out nourishment in a comfortable setting to those brave enough to turn their backs on the urban swank of the Felices and Olives. A huge setting – Breakers looks like a mere café, but opens up with all the majesty of Narnia with a huge dining area, bar and garden setting up the back. Oh, and the food is great too – a diverse lunch menu at a great price, $10- $15 meaning you can branch out with a drink and some fries, without having totally wrecked the bank balance. My eggs benedict were delicious, the hollandaise (usually a stumbling block for a number of eateries of high repute) absolutely superb. My compadres meals looked just as good as mine, and afterwards we sat satisfyingly full in the summer sun, wondering why we had not come here forever.
