The New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) will be on campus this week and students are encouraged to support the service by donating blood.
According to the Blood Service, one donation can save up to three lives. While about 80 per cent of the population will require a blood product within their lifetime, only four per cent donate blood.
Donors are advised to drink plenty of water and have eaten in the four hours prior to giving blood. A full list of donor criteria is available on the Blood Service website:
Appointments are preferred and can be made by calling 0800 200 430. The Blood Service will be situated in the Memorial Theatre Foyer in the Student Union Building from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. this Wednesday and Thursday.
