Big surprise that current president Freemantle is not running again. In a interview with Salient earlier in the week Freemantle was playing coy with the prospect of her running for a second term. She did say that if she didn’t run she would anoint a successor. Salient‘s guess is that this is Max Hardy.
Alan Young has hedged his bets by nominating himself for three positions, including president and vice-president.
Many of the catagories have only one candidate, meaning that No Confidence will be a strong option for many VUWSA voters this year.
No nominations for the positions of administration VP, Queer Rep and for one of the publications committee reps as well as No Confidence’s strong presence means that these positions will probably be co-opted until VUWSA are able to hold a by-election early next year.
Shame Jasmine isn’t running. I wonder if this means shell run for Salient editor. What fun that’ll be.
Go Sam Oldman!
lol two pres noms have been on the exec for three seconds and one of them is freemantle’s chosen one
oh jasmine
jasmine, jasmine, jazzman
At least this time my election can’t be deemed unconstitutional.
Sorry, I should clarify that:
deemed unconstitutional by Act on Campus.
A comedian running for president?! What a hoot!
Yeah, fuck you, this is the only joke I have.
*Vomits up a pellet of indigestible mouse parts*
*turns neck 135 degrees*
*preens*
*sneezes cutely*
I received an email telling me I got a vote. Ha ha. Someone would vote for me, I will definitely be running for president!
Oh sweet Alan’s going for president go Alan!!
Caitlin: you need to beat no confidence first.
Hey there,
Perhaps I’m missing something, but I cannot find an easy link to what each candidate actually stands for. How the hell am I supposed to decide on who to vote for if there isn’t any information on the candidates? I realise there have been random bits and pieces scattered throughout lecture theatres…but thats hardly satisfactory advertisement. It doesn’t surprise me why so little people vote.
I hope this information is actually somewhere and I’m just too retarded to find it :p
Ravi—you might not be retarded, but you might’ve missed the newsprint election pull-out smooched in between the pages of last week’s Salient. There are spare copies up in the office if you wanna come ‘ave a gander.
Also, next week’s issue contains an eye-opening interview with the two candidates left for president, Max Hardy and Alan Young. I don’t want to spoil the fun, but my head’s still spinning from it.
Cheers,
Michael
