Homoerotic Anime

There’s something about male scantily clad and aesthetically proportioned anime characters. The way their hair seems to swish around the screen as they murder monsters and shoot guns in revealing attire seems to make anime fan girls and paedophiles around the world naughtily wet.

To their pleasure homo-erotocism plays a major role in Japanese anime. Traditionally bisexualism has been evident in Japanese culture, and it’s a something continued in several shows to this day.

Anime: Naruto
Homo-erotic count: three fags out of five

Naruto, an anime about the trails and tribulations of a teenage ninja in a ninja village has a definite homosexual undercurrent. Naruto’s arch-rival and co-ninja – Saskue is insinuated strongly to be a love interest. While the anime shows Naruto fawning stereotypically over the girls in the village, its pretty obvious to see his true feelings whenever Saskue is under serious threat of death. Heart throbbing stuff.

Anime: Beserk
Homo-erotic count: five fags out of five.

Beserk undoubtedly involves a homosexual theme. The protagonist Guts, a burly, muscled, sword wielding beefcake is accosted by Griffin, a thin, lean, effeminate, rapier wielding, song singing knight. A classic Top/bottom dynamic from the get go. Not to mention the fact that there is a scene where they both shower naked together — throwing water over each others rippling bodies and giggling like schoolgirls. Guts also busts Griffin out of prison where he is getting some very graphic BDSM loving. That’s sooo gay. And adorable.

Anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Homo-erotic count: four fags out of five

Neon Genesis Evangelion is probably the most emo anime in existence. Therefore there needs to be a theme of a young boy coming to terms with his sexual identity. Shinji, a young pilot with father issues meets up with Kaoru – an ‘angel’ who befriends him. He then follows him around and tries to get into bed with Shinji. Pure emotion.

Anime: X-TV
Homo-erotic count: Four fags out of five

The story revolves around a fifteen year old boy called Kamui, who is a physic. Supposedly there is a war going on between the dragons of heaven and earth and he is caught in the middle. He has also caught the affections of Fuma, who according to the anime, has an underlying homosexual love for Kamui. Things get pretty sexual in the final battle. Bring tissues.
